March sessions now available! Introductory Art Workshop Free for Somerset Residents

Every Saturday at Yeovil Art Space

Starting in February, we are joining up with some fabulous creative tutors to offer four skill based ‘taster’ sessions. We would like to encourage you to try something new in these darker months of the year. Perfect place to kickstart your creativity, whether it’s part of your regular practice, needing revival or completely new to you, we have some brilliant options to get you started.

With popular demand for our February sessions, we are please to announce the following new sessions in March. Book now before it is too late!

Photography Techniques with Carolyn Lefley

Join local artist Carolyn Lefley for a photography taster session. Learn how to create cyanotype prints exposed with UV light. This is a traditional photographic technique that results in stunning blue prints. Carolyn will also show students how to make a Solargraphic image using a homemade pinhole camera.

Mosaic Art with Dawn Handy (fully booked)

An introduction to recycled mosaic art aims to teach you the basics of making mosaics, using recycled materials and found objects. Touching on the fundamentals of creating tesserae, which tools to use, how to use them effectively and how to create movement in your piece. Come and explore the ancient art of mosaic, with contemporary techniques and materials.

26 March 10am – 12pm
Printmaking with Stéphanie Max (fully booked)

Come and discover monotype and linocut techniques. Get an overview of the materials, carving tools, and safety guidelines needed. Explore a fascinating range of papers, local and some more exotic. Come aboard on a print journey to create a variety of image combinations by experimenting with different ink colours, patterns, and compositions.

26 March 2 – 4pm
Drawing with Jess Egan

Come and explore some basic drawing skills using different materials and methods, from observation to abstract mark-making; enjoy a space for you to develop your own style and ideas.  The aim is to encourage confidence and explore the benefits of drawing for calm and pleasure as well as artistic practice.

*Full-refund for one of the workshop you attend (not applicable for no-show) if you are eligible to receive funding from Somerset Skills & Learning:

  • Living in Somerset (not including Bath and North Somerset) &
  • Living in UK or EU in the last three years &
  • Aged 19 and above &
  • Have not attended any workshops in February

For those are not eligible for funding, we have made our workshop affordable for everyone with funding support from the government to support Covid-19 recovery.
