Hopes and Dreams

Yeovil Creatives Annual Exhibition

17 April – 15 June

The 2024 Yeovil Creatives Annual Exhibition opening in April will showcase more than 30 artists from our artist membership.

‘Hopes & Dreams’ promises an array of artworks, from painting and textiles, 3D and wall based, from contemporary art to traditional craft. It not only tells the stories of individual dreams for a better future, but the hope they share together, with arts and creativity, to make Yeovil a better place for the town’s community and visitors, sharing the charity’s mission: ‘We lead social change in Yeovil through creativity.’

Established in 2020, the Yeovil Creatives have more than 80 members who live across the border of Somerset and Dorset. The membership offers peer support networks in the area, with an overarching mission to “Make Yeovil Creative”. The group consists of practising artists as well as emerging artists and with diverse professional and cultural backgrounds.  Their regular monthly meetings offer a mixture of skill based workshops, talks and making sessions, and is a popular social event led by members for the members.

One Yeovil Creatives member says, “Being a part of the Yeovil Creatives fuels my practice more now than I ever realised when I joined. It has put me in touch with new opportunities and skills and the invaluable enthusiasm of others that has pushed me forwards as an artist.”

The group has grown significantly in the last 12 months and provides a strong creative workforce for Yeovil Art Space beyond its presence in the High Street.  They support Yeovil Art Space to become ‘A space to learn, to share and to be inspired.’  Far from just showcasing their work in the gallery space, they are part of the Yeovil Art Space team,  delivering an extensive programme of activities in the Quedam, as well as different community spaces across Yeovil in the past 2 years. From helping out in town events to creating public art and engagement work across the town, together they have delivered more than 50 creative workshops and events on behalf of the charity for Yeovil communities from all ages and all backgrounds.
