About Yeovil Art Weekender
The Yeovil Art Weekender is a celebration of creativity that brings people together to experience joy, inspiration, and a renewed sense of pride in our town. Through artistic expression, we aspire to change perceptions of Yeovil, highlighting its vibrant culture, diverse voices, and rich potential.
Rooted in collaboration and inclusivity, the Weekender welcomes everyone to explore, experiment, and participate. We strive to make creativity an accessible and integral part of daily life, encouraging playfulness, connection, and collective imagination.
The festival recognises the contributions of past generations, embraces the present, and innovates for the future, with equality, integrity, and respect at its core. By showcasing artistic talent, celebrating the town’s unique identity, and fostering community co-creation, we aim to uplift and inspire all who take part.
Together, we will co-create meaningful artistic experiences that leave a lasting legacy, nurture wellbeing, and cultivate positive change that resonates far beyond the festival weekend.
How did it come about?
Yeovil Art Weekender was developed as part of Yeovil Art Space’s project ‘Our Town’ a creative placemaking project funded by Arts Council England, offering a programme of art and cultural events for Yeovil Town Centre from now until March 2026.
What will it look like?
Yeovil Art Space developed the Yeovil Art Weekender in response to the call out for more creativity in our town so that we could put arts and culture at the centre of our town. 10 of our Yeovil Creatives undertook a programme of training delivered by Lucy Elmes from Take a Part, Plymouth offering them a key insight into how an arts weekender is run. Using their newly developed knowledge and skills our Yeovil Creatives have helped steer the weekender from the start and will continue to guide us to ensure the event’s success.
Yeovil Art Weekender will see a series of co-created events, pop-ups, exhibitions, performances and workshops across Yeovil Town Centre highlighting the rich arts and culture offering right here in our town. The weekender will take place from Friday 27th – Sunday 29th March. Yeovil Art Space will work in partnership with Yeovil Town Council, Somerset Council and other community groups alongside an open call so that anybody can get involved.
How can you get involved?
Co-creation is at the heart of Yeovil Art Weekender and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved so that we celebrate the diversity of Yeovil’s community. We will be announcing an open call for events, pop-up displays, exhibitions and workshops in Yeovil Town.
There will be volunteer opportunities during the Art Weekender from stewarding events, helping out with workshops, and providing information to visitors. There’s a role for everyone who would like to get involved.
You can also support us by becoming a sponsor so that we can achieve the best possible weekend. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand new arts festival and support emerging talent, creativity and positive change in Yeovil. We can help businesses and organisations reach new audiences and the local community here in Yeovil, especially those engaged with arts and culture.
We offer a bespoke approach with our sponsors and want to work with you to develop a partnership that supports us both. We would love to chat with you more about what we can offer so please get in touch via email at izzie@yeovilartspace.uk
