Yeovil Creatives at YAS

In the first of several events this year showcasing our membership we are delighted to announce four exhibitions through this May and June from the Yeovil Creatives.

As Spring becomes Summer join us in the gallery to see beautiful work from artists Jess Egan, Jackie Hughes, Sarah Stokes and Mia Taylor in their respective solo shows. Explore themes that trace the human experience from a love of colour and being outdoors to stories of resilience in adversity.

The Yeovil Creatives are the foundation of Yeovil Art Space and brings together a wonderful and diverse group of creative people based in Yeovil and the surrounding area. We have regular monthly meetings to gather and connect with members, socialising, sharing skills, artist talks, and more.

Watch this space for more from the members including the collective’s annual exhibition, further shows and Makers Markets.

A collection of paintings and drawings sharing a passage of time from Autumn and Winter to Spring. Noting her experiences on the SouthWest landscape and coastlines, through paint and atmospheric markmaking, she attempts to capture the feeling of the human nature encounter in the shifting light and elements she observes around her.

This work celebrates women’s quiet strength and resilience. Cyanotype, archival imagery, and botanical forms create composed surfaces, while embroidery reveals hidden layers of vulnerability, endurance, and growth. Rooted in personal experience, each piece honours unseen resilience and the beauty that emerges through adversity

A body of work which shares the artists love of playing with colour and inspired by the joy of ‘being beside the sea’.

“I hope we all love to play on the beach even if it is sometimes in our imaginations!”

Sarah also has a passion for music, and is a songwriter. Link here Sarah Stokes Bandcamp

Floral Fragments by Mia Taylor presents abstract paintings where floral forms and cloud-like atmospheres merge through light and layered colour, inspired by roses, peonies, and shifting skies. The works dissolve between earth and air, inviting viewers into a contemplative space of slow looking and subtle transformation across surface and depth.
