Resident artist Lisa Cheung 9-13 July
‘Tools to Make’ is a new research project by artist Lisa Cheung. From 9 – 13 July, during a mini-residency in Yeovil, Lisa will be inviting local businesses and artisans to share the specialised tools of their trade. From gardening, motor mechanics, cakes to glove manufacturing, Lisa will be investigating past and present industries in Yeovil and uncovering the stories behind these tools. She will be producing a collection of cyanotype photograms of these tools to try to gather an overview of the working life of Yeovil.
Cyanotype prints is a low-tech and very early form of photography using a chemical reaction with UV light to produce a distinct image characterised by dark indigo blue background. Photograms are produced by objects, rather than negatives (as in conventional photography) to create a ghostly white silhouette.
Workshop Events
Lisa will hold an open cyanotype workshop at Yeovil Art Space on Saturday 13 July.
Lisa will also be with Yeovil Art Space at the Yeovil Together Event at Westlands on Sunday 12 July.
