Solastalgia workshops use creative practice to explore climate emotions.

We are delighted to welcome artist Summer Auty to Yeovil Art Space for this special event for conversation and creativity.

Solastalgia workshops are an opportunity to explore feelings of eco-anxiety and eco-grief through creative activities and conversation. The aim of the workshop is to inspire expression of these complex emotions using art practices and encourage reconnection with our natural environments.

What to expect:
–  Creative activities with various art materials
–  A welcoming space to explore how climate change is impacting your mental health
–  Information about the terms eco-grief and solastalgia
–  Time to listen and converse with people about their experiences of eco-anxiety and eco-grief

The workshop is facilitated by environmental artist Summer Auty. Summer is a practicing artist and founder of Solastalgia Magazine, an environmental arts magazine that features artists, activists and writers working with climate change.

Is this for you?
If you feel overwhelmed by the enormity of climate change; if you feel guilty, responsible or angry at the powers that be for not acting on climate emergency; if you are looking for a place to feel less alone and time to share with people experiencing similar emotions, then this workshop is for you!

The two questions you will be asked to consider:
–  How does climate change make you feel?
–  What do you want the future to be like?

The purpose of the workshop is to create a space for people to share and express feelings of eco-grief through creative experimentation. Summer Auty is a practicing artist creating work based around the subject of eco grief and trauma. By participating in this workshop, you acknowledge that Summer Auty is not a licensed psychologist, medical doctor, or health care professional and her work does not replace the care of psychologists, doctors or other healthcare professionals.
