Exhibition (27 May – 16 July)

Opening on our birthday on May 27 we launch ‘Celebrations’ an exhibition which recognises a year long collaboration between our artists and communities.  We will share the creations and documentation and reflections from a series of commissioned community workshops and events funded by Arts Council England.  Showing artwork made by the Yeovil community and giving insight into our vision and mission to Make Yeovil Creative!   

Alongside our birthday this is great timing to reflect, and enjoy looking back on some amazing projects from the last year. Also on display throughout the gallery is work from the Young Artist Yeovil (YAY) group as well as a showcase of artworks on the theme of celebration from members of the Yeovil Creatives. 

Joining up with the Queen’s Jubilee events happening around the town, on 28 May, with a party vibe and visits from Yeovil Creatives members throughout the day, please come and say hello and see what we’ve been getting up to!

YAS artist Natasha Rand will be working with artist willow weaver Sarhan Essadiq on a living willow crown structure at St. John’s church as part of a project with SSDC and Yeovil In Bloom.  Join us to weave some willow and add your piece to the overall structure! All welcome, no booking required.

Members of the Young Artist Yeovil (YAY) group will be in and around the art space, with creative activities and putting a ‘call out’ for young creatives in the town to come and find out more about the group and how they can get involved.

Yeovil Creatives member Steph Baker will be in the art space sharing news on her Freeform Crochet Community project aiming to raise money for the Alzheimer’s society by producing a wall hanging from scrumbles donated by crocheters in the community, the wall hanging is to be displayed at future Craft 4 Crafters events before being donated to charity.  Come and have a chat to Steph about crochet and the project between 10-12 and please donate if you can.

Please note following this Yeovil Art Space will be closed from Thursday 2 June to Saturday 4 June, so we can be out and about at the events part of Queen’s Jubilee Celebration
